Double page spreads

Finished first draft.

Finished second draft.

My final double page spread.

Teacher feedback on contents page

In response to this feedback I will try out putting a box fully around  the text and image, and I will also move the text on my image down to the bottom. I will also include some more images.

This is my final contents page

I also noticed that date on my contents page doesn't match the date that is on my front cover or the bar code so I have changed it.

Also upon asking for feedback I have realised that I have miss spelt a word (Biggest) so I have now changed that.

Peer feedback on contents page

Vicky Harman - feedback.

Strengths:
The colour scheme works really well with the grey background and the image. Love the contents title, it looks really good with the rest of the page. The way the headings are contrasting against a background looks really good as well.
Improvements: You could change the font of the main headings or something to make it look more realistic and maybe add another image. Also move where it says 'next queen of pop' you could move the pop along so its under the text and not the number.
Other Comments: Looks really good, could work to look more realistic but everything works well together.

Jessica Clark - feedback.

Strengths:
I like the way the colours work together to make each other stand out as this makes the information look bold. I also like the use of leading lines to draw the readers eyes around the page.
Improvements: The spelling of 'January' needs to be corrected on the date line. You could try using lowercase letters for the text that isn't the main headings so that the headings standout more.
Other Comments: I like the photograph and the quote. You could make the information on 'page 17' link with the photograph more because it looks like 2 stories

Niall Foot - Feedback

Strengths:
This is amazing, I really like the way you have done the 'Contents' It is really good. I also really like what you have you done with the image and the writing next to it looks perfect. The way the writing contrasts with the background is amazing and it looks really good.
Improvement:
Its all really good!

Double page spread research

Music magazines will do a double page spread on the artist/artists they have on their front cover, it is usually towards the beginning of the magazine. Conventionally double page spreads have a photo of the artist/artists on the right hand side and the article on the left side, it's very rare for the main image to be on the left hand side but some magazines have done it. Sometimes the picture flows over to the other page. In some magazines the article of the front cover artist runs on a few pages (4-6). Some double-page spreads are question and answer articles or they are just a piece of writing about them. They all have a pull quote from the article on the page some where, and often  have a few lines describing the article or saying something about the artist at the top of the page.

Here are some existing double page spreads from magazines. Most of them have their main image on the right hand side, some of them flow into the other page, some of them have a pull quote so its clear that double page spreads can change how they're set out quite a lot.
